TrySports Mt. Pleasant Running and Walking Club

A club focusing on encouraging members to "Try" the aerobic sports of Walking and Running.

The Mt Pleasant Running and Walking Club is for all ability and experience levels...from the beginner walker to the marathon runner. This club was formed from feedback and comments from our members and community to provide numerous opportunities for people to improve their fitness levels.

Membership in this club is Free! Members are welcome to participate in as many or as few weekly training options as they like. The club is setup in a show & go type format where our leaders will help organize you in pace groups/distances that fit your ability. Our starting weekly training schedule is set out below.

Incentive to Participate! The more members that join the Club, the better it will be for everyone. So to encourage you to participate from the start, we are going to provide some incentives just for showing up and taking part! See below for details.

Weekly Runs for Everyone! Initially the Club will have 5 weekly runs but we will review these leaning heavily on the feedback we get from members. The starting 5 runs are as follows:

1.    Tuesday Morning Wake Up Run

Location: We will meet at Alhambra Hall in Old Mt. Pleasant

Time: 6:30am

Leader: Tim Kerley and/or Peggy Klimecki

Length: 3-6

Level: Walkers and Runners of all levels.


2.    Tuesday Evening Social Run

Location: Patriots Point, meet at Soccer Fields

Time: 6:15pm

Leader: Tim Kerley and/or Peggy Klimecki

Length: 3-6

Level: This run is for all levels.

 

3.    Thursday Evening Social Run

Location: Patriots Point, meet at Soccer Fields

Time: 6:15pm

Leader: Tim Kerley and/or Peggy Klimecki

Length: It will typically range from 3 – 6 miles though some members may wish to run longer and this will be facilitated.

Level: This run is for all levels.

 

4.    Saturday Morning Stress Reliever

Location: Isle of Palms, meet at The Red and White (Location to change every other week)

Time: 8:00am

Leader: This run will be led by 2 of the following: Tim Kerley, Peggy Klimecki, Jim and Maureen Kirwan.

Length: This run is designed to accommodate all levels from beginner to advanced. It will typically range from 4 – 8 miles though some members may wish to run longer and this will be facilitated.

Level: Walkers and Runners of all levels.


5.    Sunday Morning Recovery Run

Location: Park West, Meet at the track in the rec center.

Time: 8:00am

Leader: This run will be led by Jim and Maureen Kirwan

Length: This run is also designed to accommodate all levels and will typically range from 3 – 6 miles. Like the Saturday run, some members may wish to run longer and this will be facilitated.

Level: Walkers and Runners of all levels.

 

Incentive to Participate

We would like the Club to be as successful as possible and so we are going to provide an incentive to participate. We will record your participation in the Club and when you attend 10 times you can choose one of the following:

·      Believe Achieve t-shirt

·      $20 Off normal Believe Achieve Club membership fee of $59.

This incentive will be in place until 3/31/2012 and will be reviewed after that.

 

Training Programs

We will provide various training programs during the year which members can participate in. These will include activities such as speed work, strength training and running form in addition to providing more personalized training and advice.

There will usually be fees associated with these added value training programs and details will be available in the store.

 

Run Leaders

All weekly events will be lead by one or more of our Group Leaders

Tim Kerley, Peggy Klimecki, Jim Kirwan, Maureen Kirwan or by a designated TrySports Representative.
